The parents who want unique names are faced with a greater challenge, in a way. Unique names require less of a word search and more of a scavenger hunt. While the result is almost always a spiritual sort of epiphany when we find "the one," — unique names do require a little extra consideration. Before I send my clients home with a unique list of names or final unique name choices, we work through three sets of considerations or checks to ensure their final choice meets all criteria. There is a place in society for trendy names, unique names, and all those in between.

Trump is already flexing strongman power in the GOP

The ex-president is trying to intimidate Nikki Haley into abandoning the GOP presidential race. Trump’s brisk assertion of his growing power as the likely nominee is a characteristic dismantling of constraints that echoes his behavior in office. But she provoked him by refusing to quickly fold her campaign and endorse him like other GOP candidates, including Florida Gov. But the disdain toward Haley from Trump world is remarkable. It would have essentially joined the party’s forces with Trump while an election involving a rival was still taking place.

Or it could have been the declaration that a 17-year-old LeBron James was “The Chosen One,” 20 months before he played in his first N.B.A. For sports fans of a certain age, the memory of running to the mailbox to see what was on the cover of the latest weekly issue of Sports Illustrated is indelible. “You would get that cover and you’d be like: ‘Man, this is what happened last week. The coldest Iowa caucuses in history arrive Monday night amid expectations that Republicans in the state will put former President Donald J. Trump on the march to a third G.O.P. Ron DeSantis of Florida and Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina, will anoint Mr. Trump’s closest rival ahead of the New Hampshire primary election and beyond. The stakes for Iowans are high. His opponents have implored Republican voters to move past the “chaos” and controversies of the Trump era and pick a different standard-bearer to go up against President Biden, who beat Mr. Trump in 2020. Iowans will render the first verdict on those entreaties.

Traditionally, Iowa caucuses are squeakers, so close that Democrats failed to produce definitive results in the chaotic 2020 contest. Ms. Haley had 20 percent and Mr. DeSantis 16 percent — a separation at the edge of the survey’s margin of error. Ms. Haley, in the Times/Siena poll, had the support of just 3 percent of those voters. (Mr. Burgum endorsed Mr. Trump at the Indianola rally.) But depending on their performance Monday, it remains to be seen whether they will drop out and pick a side: Mr. Trump, or anyone else.

New Hampshire Democrats announced on Wednesday that they will hold their presidential primary on Jan. 23 – flouting President Joe Biden and the national party’s plans to anoint South Carolina with the first primary contest. Biden had already elected not to register in New Hampshire, and his name won’t appear on the Democratic presidential primary ballot next year. But the move isn’t without repercussions by the Democratic National Committee, including the potential loss of state delegates to the party convention. The Granite State has held the so-called “first in the nation” primary for more than a century, and a state law enacted in 1975 requires it to occur at least seven days before any other state’s primary or on the second Tuesday in March. Roughly 93% of New Hampshire’s 1.4 million residents are white, according to the U.S. Census, compared to 75% of the U.S. overall.

Sen. Mitt Romney announced that he's retiring from the Senate at the end of his term. In October, he'll release a book detailing how some of his fellow Republicans feel about Trump. The book, written by The Atlantic staff writer McKay Coppins, is based in part from hours of interviews with Romney. A former GOP presidential nominee, Romney has rarely been shy about discussing Trump. Romney was the only Republican to vote to convict Trump on an impeachment charge related to improperly pressuring Ukraine to investigate the Bidens.

For a whole lot of people, the latter best describes how they are feeling about Twitter, the live social conversation app. Having overseen — devised, really — the demise of Twitter, Musk has also created a reasonable chance that he could now be in charge of a complete brand blowout, should this daring reboot eventuate in extinction for X. The app formerly known as “Twitter” had almost 370 million users globally in December of last year, after Musk paid (overpaid) $44 billion to buy it. Less than a year later, it is already down to 353 million users, and Statista projects the number will decline to 335 million in 2024. Threads reached 100 million users in five days, which was surely the biggest case in history of rustling wandering strays from the herd.

Hun Manet, 45, needs to win a National Assembly seat to become prime minister, which he is expected to do in Sunday's general election. Analysts had expected the transition to come mid-term, giving time for Hun Manet to earn legitimacy with the public and political elite. "The reality is that as long as Hun Sen is around, nobody will move against Hun Manet." Hun Manet has given few media interviews and no clues over his vision for Cambodia and its 16 million people. Paris CNN —The humble baguette is the epitome of French baking. The perfect loaf, delicately crusty outside, soft and airy inside, is worth the airfare to Paris all on its own. For the contest, bakers are judged specifically on their “baguette de tradition,” a designation that differentiates good-quality loaves from industrially made rivals. Polski is a veteran of the Paris contest, having presided over it for almost a decade. There is not one neighborhood today without fresh bread, Polski says.
The Biden campaign is aiming for the president to compete in North Carolina and Florida in 2024, per the Washington Post. However, despite the statement from the GOP, North Carolina has a two-term Democratic governor, Roy Cooper, and remains competitive for the party on the statewide level. Newly-elected Florida Democratic Party chair Nikki Fried, a former state agriculture commissioner, is working to reverse the party's slide as it heads into next year's races. "North Carolina is the fullback of presidential politics. "But it's critical for Democrats to keep it close because Republicans have to expend extraordinary resources and time making sure they win North Carolina," he added.

London CNN —Britain’s Chief Rabbi, Ephraim Mirvis, will walk to King Charles III’s coronation, in keeping with Shabbat laws as the ceremony takes place on a Saturday, the Jewish Sabbath and day of rest. “So (they) have invited us to be their guests in St. James’ Palace over the Sabbath.”St. James’ Palace is about 15 minutes’ walk from Westminster Abbey, where the coronation will take place. "I just had breakfast with Jon Rahm and that didn't come up," laughed McIlroy, when asked if the three had discussed their dominance. It may be absurd to compare Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player, who combined for 34 major titles, to Scheffler, McIlroy and Rahm but on current form the present-day trio are in a league of their own. McIlroy opened his campaign with victory at the CJ Cup and hoisted the trophy at the DP Tour's Dubai Desert Classic. "You can say that (the new Big Three), if we do it for at least five-plus years like many of those players did," said Rahm. World number one Scheffler would not be drawn into the Big Three discussion but put the trio's domination down to a high level of consistency.
